A step-by-step guide to defining your voice, values, and visual identity so your personal brand feels authentic and scales with ease.
The moment it clicked for me
I built for other people before I built for myself. When I finally turned inward, I realized why some brands stick. The unforgettable ones make you feel like you already know them. They are consistent, human, and very clear about what they stand for.
Step 1: Define your brand promise
Finish this sentence out loud. I help [who] get [result] through [approach]. Speak it on video and write it at the top of your site, your bio, and your pinned posts. If you cannot say it in one breath, it is not clear enough yet.
Step 2: Choose five core values
Yours: integrity, authenticity, consistency, empowerment, collaboration. Write one behavior for each value.
- Integrity: I tell the truth about timelines and outcomes.
- Authenticity: I write in my own voice.
- Consistency: I post three times a week, no excuses.
- Empowerment: I teach the why behind my advice.
- Collaboration: I invite feedback and build with my clients.
Values guide actions. Actions build trust.
Step 3: Craft a simple brand story
Use a three part arc.
- Before: life or work before the shift.
- Catalyst: the lesson you learned.
- After: how you help people now.
Here is mine in short form. I studied design at the University of North Texas and worked behind the scenes for high ticket coaches and standout brands. I saw the systems that built nine figure empires. I started Socially Brielle to make those systems accessible for personal brands who want to grow with clarity and confidence.
Step 4: Set your voice rules
Pick three words for your voice. For you: confident, warm, clear. Create do and do not rules. Do write like you speak. Do keep sentences short. Do teach without jargon. Do not imitate competitors. Do not over explain. Do not use filler.
Step 5: Create a simple visual system
Choose two fonts, two neutrals, one accent, and consistent photo styles. You already lean elevated and modern. Keep cover art and templates consistent so people recognize you in a second.
Step 6: Build proof across platforms
Pin one authority post, one story post, and one CTA post on each platform. Add a short testimonial highlight. Share one behind the scenes per week. Authority plus humanity is the combination that converts.
What I recommend for the next seven days
- Write your one sentence brand promise
- Publish your three part brand story
- Refresh your bios and pinned posts
- Share one proof post and one personal post
- Invite people to your flagship resource or webinar
Your personal brand is not a costume. It is the most honest, consistent version of you, amplified on purpose. When you lead with that, people remember you and they come back.
